Three conditions of learning a language
If we want to learn a language, the following three conditions are primordial:
1. Patience - for the magic to happen we need patience.
2. Practise - with patience we need practice. The same thing needs to be repeated many times. We need to hone the four skills of communication (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) daily for at least 20 minutes.
3. Perseverance - we need continued effort to improve our flow by speaking with others (network, peers, being in touch with the professors), by building vocabulary, and and by applying despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.
Conclusion
Unless we apply the four skills with people we meet we don't learn, irrespective of our theoretical knowledge.
Thumb rule: PASSION; Why is passion not the fourth element? It is because passion is required in all three conditions; without passion, we cannot have patience, practice, and perseverance. Passion brings in a method to the madness of language learning; why language learning, it is the cornerstone for all kinds of learning.
